My Story
Hello! I’m Sophie, the owner and artist behind Moonstone Mindset, where dreams and artistry intertwine. I have many hobbies, but my passion is creating! I have been a creative soul for as long as I can remember. I grew up in St. Louis, MO, where I attended school for Graphic Design, providing me with the skillset to do all my own branding and web design for Moonstone Mindset. I have dabbled in many different mediums: painting, furniture making, sewing, tie dye, and more! I find that you can create something quite beautiful by meshing them together. I didn’t get into macrame until 2020 when my grandma dusted off her 1970s macrame books, which I used to teach myself the intricate art of knotting. I had no idea that a tangle of threads would lead me down a path of self-discovery and boundless inspiration.
As a lifelong learner, I’m always seeking out new hobbies and experiences that spark joy and creativity. In 2020, I decided to take a leap—literally—when I made my first skydive. It was an exhilarating experience that changed my life in ways I could never have anticipated, teaching me the beauty of taking risks and embracing the unknown. This philosophy ignited a fire that pushed me to leave the traditional 9-to-5 behind. I realized I wanted to breathe life into my own dreams and visions rather than work on someone else's. I decided to take my little macrame hobby and share it with the world.
Since making my first skydive, I have grasped onto adventure and never looked back. I started Moonstone Mindset with $30 while living in a tent at a skydiving airport. I eventually upgraded to a school bus that I converted into my humble abode and took on traveling the States for 3 years, filling orders from all corners of the US. I’m now traveling to different countries with nothing but an inherited backpack and a sense of wonder, continuously striving to push myself out of my comfort zone. Exploring new activities like surfing, climbing, yoga, dance, and sailing. This eclectic lifestyle fuels my artistic endeavors, allowing me to grow, change, and continually explore new facets of who I am. At Moonstone Mindset, each piece I create embodies this journey—a testament to the beauty of simple things, like macramé, leading to extraordinary experiences.
